Reading Response 2: The Short Bus
Chapters 5-9

The chapter that stood out the most to me for this reading section was chapter 5. Chapter 5 was about a man named Kent who had severe ADHD. This chapter really hit home to me because my younger sister who is a sophomore in high school, was diagnosed with severe ADHD at a young age. While I was reading about Kent, it was like I was reading my sister's story. She also is very bright and has a very high IQ but when her ADHD overpowers her, her focus is completely gone and she fails classes. This was also true of Kent. Another example of how Kent and my sister are very similar is the way they give directions. It took Kent over a half an hour just to give directions to his apartment where as someone without ADHD could give them in a few minutes and in a simple way, like his girlfriend did. My sister also takes a very long time at giving directions and loses focus when doing so.
